What secrets do we tell AIs that we might hesitate to say to others, and where does its understanding of us fall short? This piece juxtaposes the intimate, tender quality of what we share against its discrete, bounded interpretation as data, while a projection overlay emphasizes the irreducible parts of us that elude capture.

Inspired by Tracy K. Smith’s poem, “Sci-fi”, this film follows a woman who uploads her consciousness to the Cloud, only to find her embodied memories now inaccessible. The film draws upon Afrofuturist themes to contrast the intimacy of the physical, sensory world with digital disembodiment.
